My December

Be kind. Be thankful.

Every year on the first of December we make the Christmas Tree. The ornaments possess a familiar and distinctive smell for all that time they have been set aside while waiting for the next season. December is full of nostalgia. The atmosphere is painted with sentimental trumpets, saxophones, piano and violins playing the old & traditional songs, while the cold days are warmed by the thousands of tiny twinkling lights. It’s a month full of moments and memories that are more significant than any gift, and shape stronger and deeper ties between families and friends.

As the calendar reaches its zenith I reflect over the past and consider what might happen in the future. I realize that most of the flaws in life are made to be accepted and embraced. Life is short and ultimately ephemeral; we must employ all our efforts into fulfilling it with kindness and thankfulness.

I’m grateful for the simple things, for everything I’m given and for being alive and healthy, for having the opportunity to dream without being shackled or encumbered. But mainly, I'm thankful for the people and the furry friends that I have in my life.

I have learned in my childhood that it’s not about what we have in our hands but what we can place in the hands of others. We’ve only to remember.
